Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Musician Coordinator STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt LOCATION: Lourdes Grotto y Tepeyac de San Antonio
Summary of Description
The Musician Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the complete music program for all liturgical celebrations at the Lourdes Grotto y Tepeyac. This role provides musical leadership, develops choirs and instrumentalists, ensures appropriate musical selections for worship, and supports the spiritual mission of the Grotto through high‑quality liturgical music.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Music Planning & Coordination
- Selects and prepares music for all liturgies in coordination with the Liturgy Coordinator
- Designs creative and liturgically appropriate musical arrangements for seasonal and special celebrations.
- Coordinates English and Spanish music programs for the Grotto.
- Leadership of Choirs & Musicians
- Trains, directs, and supervises choirs, cantors, and instrumental ensembles.
- Develops specific choirs or ensembles and cantors for weekend liturgies.
- Schedules and leads regular rehearsals, practices, and training sessions.
- Music Program Operations
- Oversees the selection, care, and maintenance of musical instruments and equipment.
- Coordinates audio/visual needs related to music, including personnel and graphics.
- Manages set‑up and removal of musical equipment for all liturgical events.
- Maintains the choir library and music resources.
- Ensures compliance with copyright and licensing laws for liturgical music.
- Administration & Collaboration
- Participates in staff meetings, liturgy preparation groups, and music support committees.
- Collaborates effectively with the Liturgy Coordinator, pastoral teams, and other staff members.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Liturgy, or equivalent; Music degree optional. (Master's preferred).
- Experience leading Catholic liturgical music required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in at least one primary performance area (organ, piano, keyboard, choral direction, guitar and voice).
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
- Practicing Catholic required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Must be able to lift to sit and/or stand and perform. Frequently walking, standing, and sitting. Able-bodied and ambulatory with full range of body movement and use of senses for sight, hearing, and speech, required. (Ex: stooping, kneeling, walking, standing, overhead reach, and exposure to regional climate and seasonal variations). Manual dexterity with hands, fingers, arms, shoulders, elbow, required. May be exposed to extreme climate. Able to lift twenty pounds.
Work Hours
Up to 29 Hours per week, varies with feast and celebration days.
Work Schedule:
Regular weekend and some evening work hours required. In addition to regular English and Spanish Grotto Mass schedule, the Music Coordinator may be required to provide music for additional services during Holy Week, sacramental celebrations, and other Grotto festivities.
